before i was blessed with the title "mommy", i had one more list of things that i was NEVER (ever-ever-ever) going to do.  against all odds, i was going to be a perfect mother.  just you watch.  uhhhh, joke is on me! i narrowed it down to a few "NEVER'S" that i have totally broken, maybe just once...a day. i will NEVER let my kids eat on the furniture i will NEVER let my kids have more than 20 minutes of television or electronics in a 24 hour day.  AND...i darn sure couldn't possibly break both of these "NEVER'S" at the same time.  surely not... oops, double whammy!! i will NEVER raise my voice.  (these definitely sound like rules of a non-mommy, don't they?). i will NEVER have my living room turned into a kid zone, toys stay in their rooms.  what?  that is lucy's bedroom!  ;) ;) there are a few "NEVER'S" that i have actually ...

these past few days have been a challenge.  a challenge to stay patient and extremely difficult to use my inside voice.  a challenge that i didn't always win.  nathan-nathan-nathan (shaking my head).  his steal will makes for some interesting moments 'round here.  instead of focusing and blogging about how out of control he has been, i'd much rather focus on how amazing he THEY have been lately.  besides, who wants to focus on the embarrassing moment when you tell an almost 4 year old that we have to leave the splash park?  or when he pushes his teensie sister down simply because HIS popsicle broke?  i sure don't!!  i'd rather reflect on the un-challenging parts.  like today when nathan said "mommy, sit down and play with me", and i said "i can't because i have to finish cooking dinner", when he replied with a heart melting "no mommy, i can ...

my best friend and i exchange "you know your a mom if" blurbs via text message on the reg.  it always makes me LAUGH OUT LOUD because i can relate.  here are just a few of mine.   you know your a mom... if your "me time" consists of a 30 minute outing to get your brows waxed.  ouch! when you convince all the kids at the play ground to play dinosaurs to ensure that your kid has a blast. when the thought of a child in pain, pisses you off!! you sing "jingle bells" in july.  alot. if an hour break from the kids feels like heaven.  but somehow, your heart starts pounding with pure excitement as you rush the door open to shout "I'M BACK!". if your on a date with your husband and the best laugh of the night was something funny your 3-year-old said. if you find your super cute wedges in the ...

i love to switch up our daily routine with play grounds, splash parks, play dates, picnics on the lawn, and on and on.  and on and on.  and on.  yesterday, we switched things up even though we stayed at home.  we had a little tiny house guest that got dropped off at 7:30, and stayed all day until her mommy scooped her up at 1:30.  she happens to be a very good friends little girl and only 4 days older than lucy.  they are the best of friends.  when lucy saw lily that morning, she did a cute little laughy-run towards her with her arms stretched out for hugs.  cute.  suddenly, my children, who just the day before wouldn't play with any of their toys to save their life,  fell in love all over again with each toy.  when in reality, they were just loving this real life little person ...

Meet Nathan:  he is wonderful!  Simply the best boy in this whole entire world.  Easy to raise?  Heck no…not by a long shot.  Is he fun?  Only THE funnest and funniest boy ever.  He has the tenderest of tender hearts and manages to keep me falling more in love by the minute.  He loves dinosaurs to death.  Some days he is, in fact, a dinosaur and answers my questions with rawrs (while shaking his head yes or no).  he also likes dressing up (only in the raddest, coolest, man clothes)…who am I kidding, this boy trots around in my heels better than I can, ha.  A few more of his favorite things are soccer, drums, singing, ...
