okay so here lately I've been getting bored with my Salads.  this always happens in the winter.  mainly because it's cold outside and coming in from the cold and slamming down a cold salad isn't always as appetizing.  unless you change things up.  then it's different.  which cancels out the fact that it's cold outside because you have something new to look forward to.  or is that just how i operate? here's how I've managed to keep salads in my belly during these sub-zero months. Cold Asparagus Salad you will need: a bunch of fresh asparagus grape tomatoes (halved) fresh milk mozzarella (or feta) balsamic dressing of your choice (I used just balsamic vinegar and a very skimpy pinch of sea salt) sauté the asparagus over med/high heat for about 7-9 minutes using coconut oil and a splash or two of water to add steam, while using a spatula to roll them around to keep them even.  ...

tonight, i am treating myself to writing.  i plan on digging a little deep and i might write over a good cry because i have had a heavy heart lately.  and if i get lucky enough to cry a little tonight, i'll be okay with that.  my momma always told me when i was a little girl, "honey, it's okay to cry.  because Jesus holds every tear you shed in a bottle.  and he will bless you for each tear." and somehow her sweet words gave me permission to cry if i need to let something out.  i'm a crier.  and i am completely unashamed of it.  i have a heaviness in my heart over some of my family in North Carolina and it has taken up way to much time in my heart lately. but sometimes, i allow myself to feel the pain from back home as long as it is trying to teach ...

my days are spent picking up God knows what off the floors, peeling clementines, filling up water bottles, and cleaning up legos.  I take constant deep breaths to keep my frustrations of sibling rivalry in check, and  if I ever try to sit down during the course of the day (which is rare), mary thinks its time for her nursing snack bar. I clean up the house three times a day only to watch it turn into a disaster area again.  I pray.  a lot.  i have to.  because raising a family is the single most hardest thing i've ever been challenged with.  i take my role as a mama and wife so serious. i understand the importance of what my title holds. i never mind putting their happiness ahead of my own.  i love teaching them about kindness and how to differ right from wrong.  and some days, i ...
