ever felt like you were blowing bubbles with rainbow brite while eating ice cream with sprinkles on top, simultaneously? that's kind of how I felt last week when my momma was visiting.  her visits are always so refreshing on so many levels.  i love the way she effortlessly loves us.  i love how easy it is to be my authentic self around her.  i love the joy she brings.  i love how much she helps out.  i love her energy.  i love that she is the kindest person on this planet.  and mostly, i love that she survived breast cancer.  i am eternally grateful for that.  i love my momma.  she is truly my best and favorite friend. she is a pretty big deal in this house.  so big, in fact, that lucy thought it was necessary to wear her fancy, lace gloves, you know, "to look my very best for nana.", she confidently states.. how could i argue ...

have a seat.  help yourself to a fresh cup of coffee or hot tea.  I have a feeling that this post will pair beautifully with something warm. believe it or not, there are things that don't bring me joy.  like holding a baby on my hip while the heat index is 110 degrees as she's stubbornly trying to nose dive out of my arms, forcing me to hoist her back onto my hip with every step.  meanwhile, big sister has decided that she does not want to wear her flip-flops anymore, so she takes them off.  the pavement is scorching hot, so she does this whole pavement-is-hot-please-hold-me-i'm-dying plea.  my hands are full with a nose diving baby, my diaper bag, my gym bag, and her flip flops.  I clearly couldn't help her.  except I figured it out, 'cause well, her freaking feet were on fire.  and i'm a mama.  so now I've got a baby ...

I do not think it's possible to be happy all the time, but I certainly believe that you can be happy much of the time.  I don't like to wrap circumstances around my happiness.  i don't want my happiness to be determined by how much money is in the bank, my children's irritable moods, my husbands bad day, or the heaping piles of laundry.  I want my happiness to be influenced by what I do on a regular basis.  as I sit here, inspired to write about things in my own personal life that contribute to my happiness, I catch myself smiling and daydreaming a mile a minute.  because there are so so so soooooo many things that I do to encourage joy on a regular basis.  and before I start firing out my list of daily happy-fillers, I'd like to say that I believe true happiness isn't ready-made.  it takes a beautiful, healthy amount of self-love mixed ...

i'm just gonna go ahead and throw this out here, first thing... go get you some peaches!!  like, right away. 'cause they ain't playing around this summer.  you will need to grab a peach and a napkin.  place the napkin under your chin, take a bite, wipe the juice off your face, and repeat.  oh, and lick your fingers after you suck all the peach pulp off the seed.  and while you are at it, grab up some juice dripping strawberries, 'cause they are rocking my world here lately.  matter of fact, cantaloupe, raspberries, and watermelon hold a very dear place in my heart during the summer.  not only are they just so sweet and delicious to the last dripping, but they have a way of cooling your soul during the hottest of summery days. so check it, go stock up on all this yummy, in-season goodness.  thank me later. we have been sitting around a giant ...

can i please just be raw, vulnerable, and honest in this post tonight? i'm writing with heaviness deep in my heart.  if your heart is heavy, i'm sharing this for you.  but i'm writing this post for my own heart tonight. june 23rd was a sunday.  i sat through a powerful message at church.  one that challenged me to my very core. i wrote a note on my iphone note pad.  the pastor basically said this: "find your weakness and work on it until it becomes a strength." and by gosh, i took it seriously. i immediately put my one weakness down.  i stress that one humorously because i ended up with much more than one weakness. now listen, nobody can go into self-help mode quicker than i can.  and that might sound hyper-active and absurd, but i am so happy that i'm that girl.  because there is power in working on yourself.    i want ...

As you can see from the title, this post is going to be a bit of an attention-deficit-disorder kind of post.  My favorite post to write.  Woohoo.  You see, these kids of mine???  Yeah, they are hilarious. HA-FRIGGIN-LARIOUS!!  I almost wish I video blogged so I could tell this story via video.  So here it goes: (the funny part) Tonight, while husband took brother to soccer practice, I gave lucy three choices at bed time. 1. Play I spy. 2. Read any book she wanted. 3. Mommy will make up a story. And she always loves when I run wild on an impromptu bedtime story.  And if I were being perfectly honest, I like when I get to be silly with a mommy-original.  I always put their favorite colors, foods, and sayings in there to make them smile really big.  I like that.  Lucy always has specific characters she'd like to have in her story.  I always comply.  She is always a princess who is extra sparkly.  And the rest is always ...
