there i stand, leaning against the wall after both girls were nestled in their cozy beds for the night.  i began to stare a hole through my boy while my body lay slanted against the corner of the wall.  all while trying not to be seen.  i always do this to my children.  i take in a huge, meaningful, blank stare.  i stare at their hearts, i study their expression, i envision little glimpses of their future.  i swallow lumps in my throat as i try to process the amount of love that is flooding in my very heart in that very moment-but i can not, it's far to much.  it's always one of my favorite moments when i get lost in a stare.  and the feeling is often times a bit overwhelming i love them so. but tonight, my stare got interrupted.  brother gets to stay up thirty minutes later than the girls.  and he totally loves ...

my weeks are filling up right nicely in this wintry state.  i was scared of winter time a little bit. especially coming straight from the land of summer dresses and flip flops.  i wasn't sure how i was going to entertain my crew without the convenience of a zillion outdoor playgrounds and splash parks.  but if you hang with me through the next dose of sappy, girlishness, i'll show you how i've converted into an illinois-mama. a little sap: i've really started missing my florida girlfriends lately.  i'd be a weirdo (although i kind of am) if i didn't miss those girls.  they were my family down south.  while i plan my little heart out for my sweet lucy's third birthday party, i began to tear up just thinking about the fact that lily and bailey wouldn't be attending.  then i started missing little parts about each one of my girlfriends, and how i ...

as mary has finally extended and locked out her arms into the crawling position, and she begins rocking back and forth, we all hover around her and cheer her on.  she's something else in this house.  she barely takes a single breath that isn't celebrated.  nathan and lucy totally get it.  they know that baby is about to embark upon something pretty cool.  they might not call it a milestone, but they know that baby is about to crawl.  and i'm certain that they will be just as excited about it as i am.  i sure do hope they are around to see her finally take off.  if they are not, i'll make it seem that they were.  you know, keep it hush-hush and wait to re-celebrate the "first" time all over again.  (nevermind the red eye, i was to lazy to edit.) nathan and lucy are mesmerized by mary.  both of them, equally.  ...

My Weekend.  Unplugged. making the decision to delete my facebook and instagram apps from my iphone, temporarily, was an idea i've been wanting to try out.  i wanted to embrace a weekend that was completely unplugged.  i'm glad i deleted the apps because there were numerous times when i went scrolling through them, trying to find the icons, subconsciously.  i'd smile as i caught myself trying to get my social fix.  but couldn't, unless i re-downloaded them. i'm a little bit of a social-media-aholic.  some people could care less about what other people are doing, and i'm over here all, "oh my gah, how freaking cute are her shoes, i need those!!", and, "look at her as a new mommy, i remember that first day like it was yesterday.".  it makes me happy to see people i love and it's one of my social outlets as as a stay at home mama.  however, i felt ...

since Christmas day, our family has been battling a pretty vicious, whatever-the-heck-ya-call-it virus.  it started with lucy, then nathan, then mary, and then bam, it blasted me through the roof.  our last week looked an awful lot like this: this particular sickness created lethargic, tired bodies.  and whatever it was, my babies slept and slept and slept and slept.  it was wild.  the house stayed picked up, and i piddled around the house like a little old maid (the days i was well), with little bouts of tending-to, cold washcloths, and back rubs along the way.  i took down the Christmas tree (insert sad face), and put up my little vintage corner in its place.  i've been collecting vintage-like picture frames and things of that nature.  i had just the perfect amount to start my little vintage spot. it's my new list making corner.  it's right by the bay window where fresh morning light seeps through, and a little ...
