i called it an early night, and set out for a solid ten hours of sleep.  i usually wake for potty breaks and fall right back into a slumber.  not this morning.  i was startled awake by my son screaming at 4:30 a.m.. my heart started to palpitate.  i jumped out of bed, tripped over my crocs, and stubbed the dickens out of my toe.  none of which slowed me down.  i rushed his door open.  i find him sitting indian style in the middle of his bed, looking (and still screaming), at the fan.  his voice was trembling as he said "IT'S ON THE FAN...GET IT!" (all terrified-like). i immediately hopped on his bed and confidently said, "it's not on the fan anymore....mommy got it(while swatting at the ceiling fan)....okay?".  he safely says, "thank-you, mommy." that was that!! so, i crawled back into my bed.  my heart (and big toe), was still palpitating.  then, my mind just took off.  ...

dear husband, goodness gracious we missed you for the past four days.  especially the grand entrance when you arrive home from working all day.  that is when i am daily reminded what an awesome daddy you are.  the kids must smell you from the driveway.  they are at the door before i even have a chance to realize that you are home.  they squeal, and their whole body flails.  i just love how much they love you. but, if i'm being completely honest, i mostly like that time of day because you are the preferred parent for the next half hour.  i've got to get this out before i entertain another ounce of jealousy toward you.  you just had to rub it in (via picture texts), didn't you?  in all seriousness, thank you so much for sending them.  it was nice to see those little faces.  oh and if you think for a second that you were the ...

it was 11:30 a.m., on the nose.  time to scoop up my boy from school.  all the mommy's rush in around the same time to grab up their little people.  today, in particular, this one little guy was bawling his eyes out.  he was crying because everyone's mom was there, except his.  he really was pitiful.  nathan kept looking back at him as we were leaving.  in that brief second, nathan wore the same sad eyes that the crying kid was wearing.  as we were leaving,  nathan recognizes the crying boy's mommy coming in (side note:  it blows my mind how he know's which mommy belongs to which kid).  nathan quickly makes a bee line (while dragging me and lucy behind him), finds that little boy, and says, "it's okay, it's okay...your mommy is here".  sweetness. my sweet boy working hard on his sugar cookie making skills. if nathan is no longer ...

(this post was started last night, and polished up just now) with my glass of ice water at a comfortable reach, and worship music resonating throughout the house, and two sleeping children...i am ready to write.  i should probably give my keyboard and screen a good wipe down before i get into this post.  but, it's just enough residue to make me smile.  the sticky fingerprints made me remember today.  i remember showing lucy pictures of all her little cousins in illinois, as an effort to keep them in her memory box.  she was pointing, smiling, and kissing her little brains out.  i'm just going to leave this messy screen messy, just a little bit longer.  i'm even going to type over the crunchy keypad that reeks of nathan-has-been-playing-online-games-and-eating-an-almond-butter-and-jelly-sammy.  just because. anyways, back on track. it's an honor, and i am so thankful for the opportunity to call my home, my place ...

out of all the at-home games, crafts, activities, etc., that we have done in my lifetime of motherhood...this particular one, is my most favorite.  by far. i'm a google-er.  i love finding something different to do at home with my little people.  something other than coloring in a coloring book.  not that we don't do our share of good ole' coloring, because we definitely do. this particular craft wasn't something that i had found online.  actually (i have to add this part because i love thoughtful people, and i love being thought of), a sweet friend of mine, alisa, found it. she "shared" it on my facebook wall saying that she thought of us. we saved our craft for a day that we would spend indoors.  i couldn't wait to sit down and spend some quality time with my favorite boy.  lucy was napping, which was probably for the best with ...

we broke all sorts of rules at walmart today.  so many, in fact, that i am afraid to go back.  they are probably looking for me us.  when they find us, we will be banned...unless they decide to have us arrested. the buggy couldn't be more specific on the correct way to carry little passenger people.  i mean, they go as far as to engrave picture illustrations.  i'd say that it's a solid rule that needed to be followed. got it!  nathan will NOT sit in the back part.  and lucy will be properly seated, with her dainty little legs dangling in the front. or, not. like always, we finish off our trip to walmart, in the toy department.  we rarely buy, we just tinker.  and by we...i mean ME.  i especially love those little bouncy-balls that you throw down, and they bounce up to 70 feet.  yeah...i'm guilty of trying to reach ...

have you ever seen anything cuter that a pair of shin guards, that come in an extra-extra-small? cause i haven't!! i rarely say "i can't wait for my kids to, ( blah blah blah)".  i usually relish the day that is present.  but, there were two things that i couldn't wait for with both my babies.  i couldn't wait for nathan (and now i can't wait for lucy) to tell me those three words of endearment, that shake the very ground your standing on when you hear them.  "I LOVE YOU, MOMMY!"  it was september 3, 2010. the second thing i couldn't wait for, was being a "soccer mom".  not because i wanted a soccer ball sticker on the rear window of my mini-van (i don't even have a mini-van), or even for the catchy title that became famous in the soccer world as "soccer mom".  i just couldn't wait.  and, i really ...

there is just something about a saturday.  it's a great day to plan something.  something extra fun.  something you don't do M-F.  why?  i'm not quite sure.  but, having fun is my favorite thing to do, so....saturdays rock!!  however, saturdays holds a new special place in my heart, since nathan started school.  i don't have to share my boy.   he's all mine, all day.  so, saturday is extra extra delicious, nowadays. this past saturday, we had nothing planned.  on purpose.  i wanted to wake up, and just do something, and it had to be fun.  i was on a quest to do something fun for me, and then something fun for my littles.  after sneaking the sippy cups and snacks into the diaper bag (because, if they see them, they want them), we buckled up, and welcomed a sunny saturday ride.  our first stop, was the fun-for-me hot spot.  at least ...
