i have managed to master the art of, my-kids-play-so-well-together.  no, seriously...i really have.  although, today's example is a much messier scenario than usual, so, just go with it.  basically, you set up stations.  one station is assigned to the baby sister.  the other station is designated to the big brother.  because really, they desperately need their space. so far, it sure doesn't sound like anyone is "playing so well" with anyone, does it? you see, in the garage, a few buckets of sand, and beach paraphernalia, occupy a brother for a good fifteen to twenty minutes. easily swept back up, in just a few minutes.  if that. while i sit with a sister, and some word cards, and a container of dry beans/pasta. this got messy. then, i slip away from the sister while she zones out to her word cards and dried beans.  i make my way back into the garage.  build some more sand ...

it's usually a regular monday morning.  where i sip my coffee, cuddle up with each one of my babes, make breakfast, and get ready for the day.  well, not today.  today, my first born had his very first day of school. milestone of a day!! our sunshine state provides every 4-year-old an opportunity to go to a voluntary pre-kindergarten (VPK).  it is monday-friday, from 9-12. sounds silly for me to be so worked up over a few short, loooooooong hours, but, those are three hours that he is usually with me, and i love that.  so, there was nothing easy about giving up a chunk of our day, and entrusting a few ladies with my heart print.  sorry, there just isn't. the night before, i snuck in his room, and just starred at his sweet little body.  he was sleeping so soundly, while loosely gripping his t-rex.  there i hovered, with the light from ...

when i came across a banana in the fridge this afternoon, it moved me to post about my mom's visit.  it was shriveled up and brown coated.  there may have been two bites left of it...maybe two bites, and it was ever so preciously wrapped by my favorite woman.  a woman who strongly believes in saving every last bite.  not that i'm wasteful but her salvaging is quite amusing.  it made me miss her already. leave it to us (my mother and myself), to cram a whole lot of fun into one week.  from the moment she stepped foot off that plane...it was ON!! her flight was delayed by three hours which made her arrival time 1 a.m.  that was the widest awake i've been at 1 a.m. in a very, very long time.  so happy!!  SHE'S HERE!!!! truth be told, it would have been fine if we didn't leave the house ...

oh that nathan! that boy makes me crazy...in a good way.  he is so much fun.  he is silly, complimentary, aggressive-yet tender, and one more cool kid.  i love how he learns a new scripture every week, and seemingly cherishes it.  i especially love how he works so hard to communicate.  speech didn't come easy to him like it does most kids and through his speech struggle, i have seen perseverance, and determination like none other.  he's mine and i love that!  i am crazy in love with that boy and can't believe life existed before him. since my mom was in town, we had his birthday party a few weeks early so she could be a part of his special day.  his theme this year was a no-brainer.  this boy loves dinosaurs to death.   my mission for his dinosaur party was to host the best play date possible for ...

lord help me make this post as un-wierd as possible! so, i made this game up with nathan that turned out to be so stinkin' cute...at first!!!   and it goes a little something like this...hit it! we were sitting on the couch and i started saying "mommy is sooooooooo hungry, i think i'll eat your nose" (while i proceed to nibble on his pudgy nose).  carried on by a,  "that was delicous, i'm still hungry...i'll eat your ear too".  then i continued on to nibble on his toes, fingers, and all the cutsie body parts. there was a whole lotta laughter involved so i thought i was on to a very awesome mommy-and-son game. then, i say (which i never should have), "your turn, bud".  he starts off with an "i'm hungry, i'm gonna eat mommy's...nose" (while he nibbles my nose).  we laugh so hard.  at this point it was the cutest ...

my 18-year-old nephew is here to visit with us for a few days, and i am just thrilled about it.  i am drenched with pride.  he has turned into a fine young man. lucky for him, an aunt that lives a few hours from me was on her way back to florida, from north carolina.  so, he hitched a ride with her and is catching a one-way flight back.  lucky for us, my aunt grace had her grand babies in tow which made her little pit stop at my house a very, very special treat for my littles.  annya is 4, aysia is 5 (i'm pretty sure i just butchered their names).  they played for hours while aunt grace went straight to my bed for a little snooze.  nothing says family more than showing up to a nieces house, with two grand kids, and making a bee-line for the nearest bed.  ...

i remember the first few months with nathan.  i remember how, in those days, i thought it would never end.  i thought i was never going to sleep through the night again.  i thought he would always cry, and want to be held all the time.  i had no idea how fast those days were fading.  :(   look at my nathan, all teeny-weeny. CHRISTmas 2007!! with lucy, i knew that it was going to slip by, fast as lightening.  AND...it did.  :(  little sweetheart! my first glance of her! soaking in my second born. when i got lucy all prettied up this morning, i put her down, and began to watch her run free.  i always like to take in a fresh, and clean little outfit.  one that hasn't been jelly and juice stained.   that is when i noticed that it was time.  i was in denial and have been putting it off for a few weeks, ...

i was inspired, encouraged, and unbelievably moved  by this particular blog, and felt pressed to share my thoughts on the subject.  every single person has special gifts and talents.  no matter the size of that talent, it was destined to do BIG things.   sure, from the outside looking in, that girl from school who dances like a dream, who can sing like none other, and her hair air dries-needs no product, and has natural blonde high-lights. she is, hands down, the most popular, the MVP at each sport she attempts, and extremely smart. everyone adored her.  everybody remembers that girl, right? then there's me.  i danced pretty good, i couldn't carry a tune to save my life, i had to blow dry my hair in sections, then use a straightening iron to get the wave out.  i was an average student, and i was average at all the sports i ...

7 MORE SLEEPS!!  that would be how many sleeps are left until we have my mom here with us.  i don't know who is more excited about it.  every single time we get in the car nathan says "are we going to get nana?".  it kills me every time to say "(however many) more sleeps" instead of "we sure are...to the airport we go to get your sweet nana".  soon enough, i suppose.  in an effort to keep extra busy this week, to eliminate that oh-my-goodness-i'm-freaking-out-due-to-excitement feeling, we have scheduled play-dates or special outings every day this week.  in hopes to not watch the clock tick...and tock.  okay, i win!!  i'm the most excited about her coming to visit.  i must say though, this week is turning out to be pretty scrumptious and nathan is winning the funniest-kid-ever award by a land slide these days. monday, i took the little's on ...
